Eccoci arrivati alla 3a Edizione della Copa. Da quest’anno si chiamera’ COSMOS COPA, essendo la vecchia Copa NYC stata acquisita dai risorti New York Cosmos. Quest’anno sono iscritte 3o squadre, 8 in piu’ rispetto allo scorso anno. Dunque le cose si fanno sempre piu’ serie!
Le prime 8 della scorsa edizione, ossia le squadre arrivate fino ai quarti di finale lo scorso anno, attenderanno per la fase finale (che iniziera’ il 9 Luglio a Corona Park Fields 8 & 9 in Flushing Meadows, Queens) altre 8 squadre. Ben 22 squadre disputeranno la fase di qualificazione nel weekend del 18/19 Giugno al College di Staten Island. Tra queste la compagine italiana.
Il TEAM ITALIA NYC, chiamato all’interno della Cosmos Copa NYC ITALY, sara’ nuovamente presente. Al Team, fondato da Fabrizio Carrer, Francesco Bardazzi e Marco Evangelista, si sono aggiunti come dirigenti anche Venanzio Ciampa, noto businessman nel mondo della comunicazione con la sua Promotion Factory nonche’ principale sponsor della squadra, e Roberto Angiolucci, Presidente della Claudia Ciuti, che con le sue calzature per donna e’ un altro esempio dello stile italiano.
Il nuovo Mister (coach) sara’ appunto Roberto Angiolucci, coadiuvato da Gaetano Messina. Agli ordini dei due, si sono disputate diverse partite amichevoli onde provare nuovi elementi insieme al core della squadra dello scorso anno. La lista dei 22 giocatori selezionati per rappresentare i colori dell’Italia e’ stata consegnata e presto sara’ svelata al pubblico.
Al gruppo di giocatori della vecchia selezione capitanata da Jeff Matteo si sono aggiunti alcuni elementi di notevole spessore, quali, Chad Calderone, Giovanni Russo, Jordan Cila e Chris Aloisi oltre a giovani talenti pescati in varie leghe, quali Giuseppe Di Lorenzo, Anton Wesener e Giorgio Ferrara, solo per citarne alcuni.
Insomma l’edizione 2011 della Cosmos Copa parte sotto i migliori auspici!
Venite tutti a sostenere il TEAM ITALIA NYC Domenica 19 Luglio al College di Staten Island. La prima partita sara’ alle 12.30pm contro la vincente di Peru’-Portagallo e la seconda partita sara’ alle 3.30pm contro la vincente di Giappone-Colombia. Su 3 squadre se ne qualificheranno 2.

Here we go again, the 3rd edition of the Copa and from this edition it will be called Cosmos Copa, since the old Copa NYC has been acquired by the newly reformed NY Cosmos. This year 30 teams, 8 more then last year, will play for the Cup, so things are definitely getting serious.
The first 8 teams from last year, meaning the teams that got at least to the quarterfinals, will be automatically qualified for the final round of 16 (whitch will start on July 9 in Flashing Meadows Corona Park on fields # 8 & 9) , while the other 22 will square off for the remaining 8 seats during the weekend of June 18 and 19 at the College of Staten Island, one of these teams will be your truly NYC Italy.
Team Italia NYC, or NYC Italy for the tournament, will be there once again in full force and, in addition to the original founders and board members: Fabrizio Carrer, Francesco Bardazzi and Marco Evangelista, will present the new board members: Venanzio Ciampa, esteemed businessman in the field of marketing, promotion and communication for high end international companies and also main sponsor of the team with his Promotion Factory, and Roberto Angiolucci, member of the elite Italian shoe making industry with his own Claudia Ciuti brand.
The new coach will be Mr. Angiolucci with Gaetano Messina as his assistant; the two already supervised various friendly games in order to screen new players as well to reassemble the core players of last year’s team.
The final list of the 22 players representing NYC ITALY has been given to the organizers of Cosmos Copa and soon will be revealed to the public.
The returning players, at the order of Captain Jeff Matteo, will be joined by a group of young but experienced players like : Chad Calderone, Chris Aloisi, Jordan Cila and Giovanni Russo plus some young local talent coming from the metropolitan and cosmopolitan leagues like Giuseppe Di Lorenzo, Giorgio Ferrara and Anton Wesener just to name a few.
This 2011 edition of Cosmos Copa is already starting off with a good foot.
Come and support TEAM NYC ITALY on Sunday June 19 at the College of Staten Island, we’ll play 2 qualification games. The first one at 12:30pm against the winner of the game NYC Japan-NYC Colombia; the second one at 3:30pm will be against the winner of the game Peru-Portugal. Two teams out of three will qualify for the final round and we’ll need all the support we can get.
